How to Build Raised Bed Garden S1E2 | Garden with Jag
When building raised beds, first know the materials you can work with. I use Douglas Fir and i treat the wood by scorching the wood and then applying raw linseed oil. Make raised beds on a flat surface such as concrete. Lay down weed block fabric for your walkways and then place raised beds so that the edges of the raised beds are over the weed block. This way the weed block fabric won't lift up and the weeds won't grow on the sides of the raised bed.

Hi Jag. Thanks for persevering. I have kind of problem with my pomegranate tree. Wonder if you have any idea as what is going on with this funny tree. I'm in South Africa. Now is late autumn just few days before winter. Zone 9b goes sometime to -4C but very few days. Day time temperatures in 20s Celsius. My pomegranate is full of flowers and young fruits. That tree start late flowering and then in the middle of summer in to the winter he start flowering like crazy. tree is in his 4th year. What should I do to force tree to start flowering in spring?

My father grew fig trees in SW Pa. In the fall he would dig a trench the length of the height of his tree. He would then put the earth that he dug up over that tree. Then he put lots of mulched weeds on top. I used to think it looked like a grave! In the spring he would dig up the tree and it would green up in a couple of weeks. He used a lot of compost, too. I have fig trees that are over six feet tall and get more figs than daddy, but his tree had to be kept small. I must tell you, though that I live in Houston, Texas! I enjoy your channel very much; you are concise and by the looks of your gardens, you know what you are talking about! 😊

But my zucchini plants produce mostly male flowers only. Out of 3 plants last year, only two plants produced 3 or 4 zucchinis. What can I do about it? Thanks.

I think Amanda is more likely to hold a grudge, but Tiffany will be willing to let the animosity dissipate and resume a friendship.

Im in Massachusetts and the ONLY bird that is the pain in the butt is the catbird. They sound like a cat screaming. They even just eat the blossoms of blueberries before theres even blueberries. They dont even wait for berries. I tried everything. Tape, owls and netting. I can't seem to find netting with big enough holes that the huge bumble bee can get through so i have to leave it open until its all pollinated. Then i can net it. Its a pain those catbirds.

Okay, I finally tried this trap. I took my used Spartan mosquito tubes which are black inside and orange on the outside, perfect. I used Italian brewers yeast, a 50/50 blend of brown sugar and white sugar, salt and water @ 130. Two days later about fifteen mosquitos in each trap. But it’s early. Making two more and am going to buy several new Spartan traps and compare the results. I know the commercial Spartan traps work really well. Hopefully the diy ones work as well.
